Part of Falkland Islands. British Overseas Territory (under the sovereignty of the United Kingdom, but not considered part of the United Kingdom).
Private issue by Leonard Hill, director of ZOO in Gloucester, England, and owner of Jason Islands (northwest part of Falkland Islands). Jason Islands are inhabited only by penguins. The notes were sold to rise a funds for the Jason Islands Trust to preserve the 4 millions penguins sanctuary and were a "legal tender" until December 31, 1979.
